Purchased a Breezaire WKL 3000 last Fall through the Wine Enthusiast. It just stopped cooling after 6-7 months. The company has no authorized service technicians, so sent a new control panel (this must be a common issue) and siad that should solve the problem. It did not. We when contacted the company again, it said we have moved beyond the one-year warranty period and were now responsible to have the unit shipped to California if we wanted it serviced. Clearly, this an expensive proposition, not to mention the unit has to be un-installed. [...]

I have had two units, one lasted about 8 yrs in grueling FL garage heat while cooling a well insulated vapor barrier wine cellar located there. Second unit still fine after several years. Service sent me new fan motor promptly once at no cost when fan blade hub was slipping a bit. Would be noisy indoors in LR, or BR but it efficiently did what we asked it to do in the garage cellar wall application. Would be good in basement or vented away from family room. Our garage cellar is 54 degrees inside cellar, and often 105 degrees and humid outside cellar.sometimes 100% humidity. These units cannot last forever. Have a spare if you have a big buck wine collection. Cost is small compared to a few cases of high end wine. Also consider generator backup if you have expensive collection. Wattage is small when running. Probably not a good choice for building into a piece of fine furniture, but very dependable if well vented in a cellar wall. I am going to order one more unit soon, next time they are on sale!! I have collected wine for over 30 years, and this is a very economical way to protect a fair size collection, if you are into a nicely appointed and racked small cellar and do not need the furniture cooler route.

I purchased a Breezaire WK 3000 in 2002 through my wine retailer[...]and recently (Aug 2007) the outside of the case started freezing up. I contacted the company and they don't have authorized repair techs. The company informed me that my unit is still under warranty for parts but I would have to ship the unit to CA to be worked on. This would involve me removing it from the wall of my cellar and shipping it at my cost. The unit is much too heavy for me to remove it myself (I am a woman living alone) and shipping would probably cost nearly $100. And after all that effort I have no idea whether it could be repaired and at what cost. The message I take away from this is that even though I spent nearly $1,000 to purchase this five years ago, they would prefer I purchase another. Talk about throwing good money after bad. I have notified the wine retailer and he is checking locally for me to see if there is anyone who can work on these units. If that fails, it will become a very expensive wall ornament in my now non-temperature controlled wine cellar. And every time I walk into the cellar I will be reminded of the [$] I wasted on this piece of junk. My wine retailer is also not amused and plans to warn away potential customers. Five years of operation is completely unacceptable.
