I bought this because another set of Riedel flutes I own broke. The design is wonderful and really brings out color and taste of the champagne. These are heavier than the last set I owned, but my wife liked the weight as she felt the flute wasn't going to break every time she put it down. These are not heavy like Waterford glasses but not as light as the regular wine glasses. I think this actually helped to keep the champagne a little colder longer.
