Got Pilot Holes?

4.0

Pros

  • Efficient Use of Space
  • Attractive Design
  • Holds Bottles Securely

Cons

  • Difficult To Assemble

Best Uses

  • Wine Cellar Storage

These are a great upgrade to store our 7-8 case wine collection from the cardboard wine boxes. These wine racks make it easy to organize and choose our wine. These were relatively easy to assemble with two people minus one key item: pilot holes. All 12 pilot holes required for assembly on these were missing (on all 3 wine racks I ordered). Luckily, we had the tools to drill our own.

Rack Okay, Instructions Worthless

3.0

Pros

  • Holds Bottles Securely
  • Efficient Use of Space
  • Attractive Design
  • Good Capacity

Cons

  • Difficult To Assemble

Best Uses

  • Wine Cellar Storage

Once assembled, this is a decent rack for the money. However, unless you're an experienced tinkerer, assembly is a challenge. You actually can't assemble it per instructions, you have to improvise, and you'll need more than a Phillips screwdriver (only tool the instruction sheet says you'll need). The assembly directions are inconsistent with the parts: there where peg holes where the directions said there would be pegs, and vice-versa; you can't screw in the top shelf without a ratchet screwdriver; and there were no pre-drilled holes for the bracing. I spoke to the customer service rep and he said they recently switched manufacturers. Seems like they still have some kinks to work out The rack is made with tongue-and-groove ends on the verticals for stacking additional units. The design has tongues down, so the rack sits on 1/4" tongues. You'll want to saw them off to have a flush bottom on the verticals, or make slats with 1/4" grooves to set the unit on for increased stability and less digging into your flooring or carpet. With some adjustments in the assembly, I have a nice rack for my basement-closet "cellar." If you're expecting a simple snap-together, this isn't your purchase of choice. Given the rack's basic design, though, it could be. When they get this product right for easy home assembly, they'll have a winner.

I purchased two wine racks. One for reds and one for whites. The best thing about this wine rack is its ability to hold all size bottles. Very easy to assemble. Takes about 10 minutes. Very sturdy and looks very nice in kitchen or wine cellar. Not appropriate for formal areas. I plan to purchase a third one.

This is an excellent wine rack. I use one for reds and one for whites. Very easy to organize your wines and find the one you want. Allows you to get rid of numerous wine boxes all over the floor. Rugged - holds 36 bottles with absolutely no sag or sway. An excellent value!
