BYO Deluxe Single Wine Cellar Kit (Dark

4.0

Pros

  • Precise Temperature
  • Energy Efficient
  • Solid construction easy
  • Attractive Design
  • Quiet

Cons

  • Can Not Adjust Shelving

Best Uses

  • Dining Room
  • Kitchen

Very solid construction, easy to build, looks great. The only downside is that the shelves are not on rollers, so they are very difficult to get in and out if you have this units packed with wine like I do. Realistically you will get 12 standard Bordeaux bottles per shelf and 10 large burgundy style or long bottles per shelf.

The walnut finish matches perfectly with our dining room furniture. It is very attractive and it maintains the temperature at the setting we selected. Our handyman put it together in less than two hours and had no issues, the directions were good and all parts were included. If you don't have space to build a custom wine room, this is perfect, both in style and functionality.

Good buy for the money

3.0

Pros

  • Attractive Design

Cons

  • Can Not Adjust Shelving
  • Inaccurate Temperature
  • Loud

Best Uses

  • Wine Room

This cabinet is a good deal for the price. It was 1/3 the price of other units I looked at. It does what is required of it-keeps my wine at approximately 60 degrees, however the unit struggles to maintain a precise temperature. It varies as much as 5 degrees above or below the set point. The refrigeration unit is loud. I had to redrill the holes of one of the sides to assemble it. I would recommend it with some reservations.

[...] it was assembled in one day ( pretty much ). I waited until the sealant was dry - overnight. Good instructions and quality of materials. I build furniture, so I was realy for the task, but anyone could have done this!

  • Attractive Design

Cons

  • Loud

This is a solid mahogany wine cooler with a furniture like finish that will look good in any room. The refrigeration unit is a little loud and cycles every couple of minutes. I would buy another one in a minute! And, I may have to this one is already full and I have more wine on the way!

Piece of cake

4.0

Pros

  • Precise Temperature
  • Attractive Design
  • Quiet
  • No surprises

Cons

It is exactly as I expected. It looks great and was not difficult to assemble. Existing reviews mention that it is loud. It is no louder than a regular refrigerator or dehumidifier. Best product for the buck.

Beautiful but just OK

2.0

Pros

  • Beautiful Unit
  • Great Storage Space
  • Attractive Design
  • Adjustable Shelving

Cons

  • 58 degrees at best on top
  • Inaccurate Temperature

Best Uses

  • Not for longterm storage
  • Kitchen
  • Dining Room

Absolutely beautiful unit, but at best running all the time can only achieve a temperature of 58 degrees on the top two shelves. On the lower shelves it is closer to 64 degrees. When I contacted tech support at Wine Enthusiast, I was told that this was what the unit was capable of and that my expectations were too high. At best, this is a very attractive wine cabinet for short-term storage, but not a "cellar".

Good & Bad

3.0

Pros

  • Quiet
  • Attractive Design

Cons

  • Lock won't latch
  • Can Not Adjust Shelving
  • Door doesn't seal

Best Uses

  • Dining Room

I bought this particular wine cooler because it's big enough to handle at least part of my growing wine collection, and goes well with my decor. It is indeed nice looking, fairly quiet (in spite of what other reviewers said), and holds even Pinot Noir bottles extremely well. Even by myself, it didn't take much time to put together--I recommend at least two people, because it's a bear to lift & move by yourself. However, the door doesn't seal on the bottom right corner, so air continuously leaks out, making the unit work harder. I'm having to rig some additional weatherstripping so it will cool even to 60 degrees, much less 57 or 55. In addition, many of the decorative caps to cover the screws didn't quite fit, so had to be glued in place. Finally, the locking mechanism isn't aligned properly, so the latch doesn't slide into its groove, and the door cannot be locked, or sealed as tightly as possible. Unfortunately, I wouldn't do this again.

BYO Deluxe Single Wine Cellar Kit

4.0

Pros

  • Precise Temperature
  • Well made heavy
  • Good size vs price
  • Assembled in 4 hours
  • Adjustable Shelving

Cons

  • A little loud for dining

Best Uses

  • Kitchen
  • Bar

The boxes are well padded. Be prepared to handle the weight. Two person assembly. Everything fit and functioned properly. The temperature was close to the digital display. The unit is in our dining room and makes about the same noise as the refrigerators in the kitchen and bar. This can be annoying in a formal setting. The door lock is not designed well. There was some slightly visible delamination when we tightened the screws to assemble the unit.

The cellar is great and easy to assemble. I did have to make a run to the local hardware store because not all the parts were included in the package. After a short delay the cellar was assemble and works great. The temperature fluctuates a degree or two.

My wife and I assembled this in ~1.5 hrs, [...].Cooling unit is quiet, not sure of the efficiency or how the temp is maintained as we are still waiting on digital thermometer to track min/max. Overall, we are very pleased with our purchase and believe this unit is a great value at the price point.
