I was previously using one of those vacu-thingies and was not happy with it. It had almost no effect on the speed with which opened bottles deteriorated. Private Preserve just works. Bottles that I opened a week ago are nearly indistinguishable from a freshly opened bottle. Just what I was looking for. Don't be put off by the can feeling "empty" when it arrives. It's remarkably light, but it is not empty. Follow the directions (e.g. one 1.5 second shot followed by 3 or 4 very short ones, cap it up with a tight-fitting seal such as the lever-type stoppers, and you're good to go).

A wine preservation system that WORKS!

This is the ONLY wine preservation system that actually works. Consider: when you so carefully aerate your wine prior to serving to improve its taste, you introduce the air that will ultimately lead to the formation of acetic acid in the long term (ie spoilage) Re-sealing wine from the decanter will thus not prevent spoilage. BUT sparging the remaining wine in the bottle with inert gas after decanting will allow you to keep that half bottle of wine in good shape (or when serving wine straight from the bottle, for that matter) Its how the pros protect their wine in those big tanks. This is good stuff!

We were introduced to Private Preserve on our first Napa Valley trip. Sitting in the home of a well-known vintner and his wife, they had us taste a bottle of Chardonnay they opened and preserved the night before with Private Preserve. It was amazing! Ever since, I keep Private Preserve in stock and on the counter as a reminder in case we don't finish a bottle of red or white. A little hint ... put an elestic band around the can to hold the little straws in place (eventually the tape wears out).

I have used this product for three years. It really preserves wine for another day. I recommend using more gas than they specify, generally more is better. I have tried the vacuum devices and this product is much better. I don't think you will be disappointed.

This gas blanket is the best thing I have found to keep wine tasting fresh after the first day. It works better than the special corks.

This is the best product for preserving an open bottle of wine. I have used it for many years. It does seem, however, that the volume of gas provided in the container is lower than in the past. I find the cans running out sooner now than they used to. Or, perhaps I am just drinking more wine?? ;)

I don't often need to keep a bottle, but if I do this stuff is the only way to go. I tested it in the summer one year with a bottle of Merlot. I drank a glass, used the Private Preserve and let it sit on my kitchen counter for a month. I drank a glass and it was like the first glass. No gimmicks here, just physics. I have been using the same can for literally 4 years!!!! It makes a WONDERFUL gift also....so just buy the 4-pack and 4 packs of stoppers, you won't regret it.
