Easy to use, but broke at the worst time

The design is excellent: minimal, light weight & nice texture. But, in the midst of my dinner party, I was in the process of opening my favorite Riesling (very anxious to drink it, may i add) while praising what a wonderful corkscrew it was___the 'VELVET feeling 2-pronged grip broke at the top, in half, How EMBARRASSING! No back up cork screw, meant NO wine!

I had an "original" Screwpull cork-remover for about 30 years and somehow(?) misplaced it. Note: Bought it from Messina Hof Winery in College Station, Texas (1979). After I lost it, I bought a series of "fancy" and expensive cork removers during a period of about five years -- none of which measured-up to the simplicity of both cork removal from the wine bottle and removal of the cork from the cork-screw itself -- as did the original Screwpull. Consequently, I recently "tracked-down" (online) the Screwpull because I've been irreversably "spoiled" by the original Screwpull cork remover.

Great Simple Corkscrew

The best simple, manual corkscrew available. The coating on the worm eventually wears out (3-4 years) making it less efficient, but otherwise it's great.

I miss the plastic stand (black base and clear cover) these items used to come with.

I bought this item as a replacement the first one I owned lasted 14 years. This durable corkscrew is a real workhorse as we open wine daily. It's simple, safe and clean. I've tried the Rabbit Style, High pressure as well as Electronic Openers. The Screwpull Model wins hands down!!

Article usually comes with a plastic storage container that holds it upright and out of the way when not in use. I miss this feature keenly.
