Once put together it is nice to have. However, the process is very frustrating and the instructions are way too basic and short to be helpful. The first doors I was sent were bowed and the replacement doesn't hold suction.

The unit was easy to assemble. We are pleased with its quiet operation. It's a great feeling not having to worry anymore about temperature variances in the wine cellar.

I replaced a defunct SubZero freezer that had been converted for wine; trust me, this is way better. I won't say that it is perfect for everyone, but in its location at our place, for our needs, it's an outstanding bargain. Lots of space, a compressor that even my wife feels is not loud enough to note, and close tolerances on temperatures. I did have to by a proper tube of caulking to finish that job, and the instructions for assembly are virtually useless. It helps if you have assembled childrens' toys. Also, I would not suggest that the unit be placed in a dining room or other space where one might prefer a noiseless background. Having said that, this unit looks good, the doors seal with authority, the glass front is a surprising luxury for the price. With the above caveats, I can strongly recommend it.

As mentioned in other reviews, the instructions to put this together are not complete. They need someone who did not write the instructions to put it together and add the steps and part numbers that are needed. (You need 6 hours and some help to put it together.) Once together the unit keeps accurate temperature after the cooler is calibrated. It definitely does not hold 500 bottles more like 350 with a good mixture of varietals. The unit is a little loud for a dinning room but for the price if you don't mind the above issues the unit is worth it and I would recommend it.

Overall, this is a decent item. Not particularly attractive and a bit loud. It is cool in our basement this time of year so it dies not run at all, but we will see how it fares in the summer. I bet the tiny condensation pan will be full twice a day and require some modification to be workable. WIth 400 bottles it is full, I am not sure how to get more in and still have access to them easily.

WHen I read the other reviews thay mentioned that this product was hard to assemble. I would like to mention that this product was by far the most frustrating piece for frenature that I have ever assembled. THe hardware used to hold the side together is of very low quality. I have only had my cabnet assembled for two weeks and I am slowy comming to enjoy it more. But I was somewhat dissapointed on the day I put it together. Also the gaskets on the door have a tendangy to leek.

I bought two of these units based on price and they are serving me well. I found the directions a little vague, but I am a handy guy, so I was able to tweak them a bit and assemble both of the units, by myself, with no issues. The trick to doing it by yourself is to start it on it's side, using the weight of the unit in your favor, rather than on it's back. Also, I had plenty of room to roll the unit on to it's sides and back easily. I agree with others who mention the caulk that comes with it not enough. I used extra caulk between the seams and in the cracks for air tight fit. For mine, I added my own LED lights on a switch, and some other things to make it a little better for me.

For the price, this is a decent unit. A comparable commercial unit that holds ~500 bottles is about $4K. You won't really get 500 bottles in this unit, since many bottles don't conform to a standard Bordeaux bottle (ie. Pinot Noir bottles, large-format, etc). My unit currently holds ~250 bottles and could easily hold another 50 bottles before I have to reorganize.I've looked at many, many wine cellars/coolers, and this one is about average for utility. The drawers are adjustable, in that you can space them the way you want, but they do not pull out. My experience with pull-out shelves is they look good but you can't fill them very well.It took much longer than 1 hour to build, and you will need someone to help you flip the unit as you build it. It is large and heavy, as it is made from MDF.I suggest you calk the seams as you build it with insulating silicon, to improve the energy efficiency. I also calked around the cooling unit, and added weather stripping around the inside of the door frames, for better insulation. The door hangs pretty sturdily, in my build, but you *must* adjust it properly so that the simple magnetic strips (ala a refridgerator) don't bind in the jam, yet still make a full seal.I live in Florida and my cellar worked perfectly for 8 months, keeping my cellar of mostly California wines at my desired temperature of 59 degrees. (The thermostat can be calibrated to match an electronic thermostat, btw.) It just recently froze up with ice, and is not keeping my cellar cool enough, [...].If I had $4K, I'd buy a nice quiet, well insulated cellar, but for my budget this has been a nice upgrade from my little 50-bottle cooler.

This unit was fairly easy to assemble. The only thing that didn't work was the sealant that came with it, which was messy, hard to apply and in short supply. [$] at a hardware store bought a caulk gun and slicone sealant that worked MUCH better, cleaner and faster. This unit is a little noisy to put in a dining room or other room where noise may be an issue. A family room or bar would work better, where the rougher edges and corners might not be as big of a deal.

Poor assembly instructions - You MUST be very good with assembly and tools or get someone else to assemble it. I'm pretty expert and it took me a day.[...].Poor calibration of the thermostat - Gave 55 when set to 59. Very stable control after that. I wish they told me how to adjust the calibration.Shelves on one side aligned at a slight angle.Attractive and solid when finished. I would recommend the finished product, but be aware of the difficult assembly.
