The EuroCave mini refrigerator and vacuum system is compact and easy to use and maintain, allowing the simple storage and chilling of any combiantion of two bottles of red or white wine for a week or more without degradation. Fits easily on a counter top. No messy tubes or valves to clean. Good price. Will have to see if it stands the test of time, but so far so good.

External power supply runs very HOT !

The external power supply runs very hot and may damage surfaces that it may be placed upon. I put a finned heat sink below and on top of it to remove the heat. The external power supply should be replaced to avoid fires. Otherwise the appliance seems to do what is desired.

So, I calculated how many 1/2 bottles of wine that spoil when I decide to leave for the weekend, drink red instead of white or go out to dinner instead of having a glass at home. It was significant. I also thought about how bad wine tastes when you just can't wait to chill it so you throw in a few ice cubes (you know you've done it too.) I decided to ante up the money for this peice and after owning it for a month, can't be more thrilled with it. It will pay for itself within the year. Plus, it is stylish in my kitchen and easy to use. An easy must have for any wine drinker that can't always polish off the whole bottle.

Home Wine Bar Impresses

4.0

Pros

  • Ergonomic
  • Attractive Design
  • Easy to Use

Cons

  • Can't adjust temperature
  • Bad electric connection

Best Uses

The EuroCave SoWine Home Wine Bar is an elegant and useful way to serve and protect two bottles of wine at the right temperature. Choose red or white, push down to evacuate air to protect, and open either of two doors to serve. Looking Ahead: One feature for a future model would be a digital temperature setting where one could set the precise temperature (e.g., young Spanish reds should be colder). One Flaw: The one annoyance that cost the SoWine Home Bar a five-star rating was the electrical connection which is not solid and loses power way too easily if any of the wires and/or transformer are nudged/moved.

Extremely quiet and functional machine. The only noise occurs when you first start up the machine to set it up, and when it draws out air from the bottle which is a very quick procedure. The whites and reds each stay at an appropriate temperature (though I do wish there were two custom temperature settings), and the bouquet and flavor remain for several days after opening. My guests are fascinated with the EuroCave Home Wine Bar - after seeing it in use in my home, it is now on their holiday wish lists. Best of all, if you love to cook with delicious wine but sometimes hate to open up a really nice bottle to use a small portion to make a dish or sauce, then this wine bar is for you! You will have days to drink that yummy wine after using it to create a fantastic dish (I prefer to use my typical drinking alcohols in cooking since heat concentrates flavor as the alcohol burns off - if the wine is not scrumptious to begin with it could detract from the end result of the dish or sauce).

This works very well and is attractive. The construction is not very sturdy, so I'm dubious about its life span. So far I'm enjoying the convenience of having wine preserved and at the proper temperature, and being able to nurse a bottle over the course of a week or more.

SOWINE IS FINE

5.0

Pros

  • Attractive Design
  • Durable
  • Easy To Clean
  • Easy to Use

Cons

Best Uses

I used Vac-u-Vin for years. Sowine seemed like the logical next step with the plus factor that it keeps the wine at the right temperature. I really like it and especially appreciate I can have a white and a red ready at all times. It works as described. I would recommend to anyone who appreciates fine wine and good food. Yes, there has been some condensation forming under it and a little inside, but I do not have it on a surface where moisture would cause a problem. One papertowel takes care of it. Cheers!

Excellent addition to home bar

This Eurocave product performs as advertised. The preserved wines (red and white) taste the same after a week as if I had just opened the bottle! It also serves wines at the correct temperature making the wine that much more enjoyable. The product is easy to use and makes a nice addition to any home bar. You can't go wrong with this purchase. My only dislike is that it takes up more space than I like, but it’s a small tradeoff.

This looks beautiful! Sleek European styling. The black and chrome accents really do impress. We get lots of comments by guests. Sort of feel "space age" when you push down the chrome vacuum tubes. Very neat. So easy to use. Insert wine, select white or red and then push down vacuum tube. Done! Makes a noise when you initially vacuum seal ~30secs, and then it's completely silent operation. Seems to keep wine fresh--I don't know if anything can preserve the experience of a new bottle of wine, but the wine kept in here for 3-4 days doesn't taste old or tired, still fresh and open. Much better than the old vacuum pumps or NO2 devices we think. One issue is that we find certain taller bottles (usually cheaper whites!!) fit inside, but cannot be vacuum sealed. Only happened twice so far so might be our error. Strongly recommend this product. Owned for about 3 weeks now.

I really like this product for red wine but I find I like my whites a little cooler than the setting provides for. It is perfect for red wines when you want to drink a bottle over a couple of days.
