Wine Essence Kit

We used this when we were entertaining last weekend - thought it would be a fun ice-breaker and help us learn about the wines we were drinking that evening. Followed the instructions, but no one could actually taste anything most of the time. I wonder if I should have spent the extra money and gotten the one with the aromas as well, but didn't even see it at the time.

Other essence kits I've seen have pamphlets or books included to unravel the scent mystery. Not this one. There is not even a scale of thresholds of identification or dosage included, so you are on your own to explore the nine(9) principal wine characteristics. I'm glad it was on sale!

The wine world was a blur to me! I found the essence kit for tasting and it made a huge difference by helping me train my palate to detect certain flavors in wine. This is not an aroma kit, but a tastes kit. I will use it repeatedly. My next kit will be a nose kit to further train my senses.

Really helps one develop one's tasting abilities. Teaches exactly what you taste in the glass and how to describe it. Helps deepen appreciation of various wines.
