Winesceptre Wine Chilling System

We bought this product to allow us to entertain guests on short notice who bring their own white wine. An added benefit anticipated was eliminating trips to the chiller between pours of white wine (i.e., we wanted better portability than single-bottle chillers or electric gadgets). The Winesceptre met some of these expectations. The best part of the Winesceptre is its stunning good looks. This is a conversation piece, and everyone who sees it is curious and impressed. As for effectiveness, it is true that the Winesceptre can transform a white wine that is unacceptably warm to a wine at a drinkable temperature (i.e., it effects roughly a 10 degree Fahrenheit drop in temperature). The Winesceptre also helps a wine hold its chill for 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how far above temperature the wine was when opened. Unfortunately, the Winesceptre does not fit about half of the bottles of white wine we open. Specifically, we have troubles with Australian sauvignon blanc and German Rieslings. In both cases a product that is an inch shorter would solve the problem. Also, the rubber ring gaskets have difficulty grabbing most bottles (i.e., a single gasket engages, and that does not seem to provide enough resistance to support the weight of the Winesceptre when pouring). That being said, a suitable work-around has been to firmly hold the Winesceptre in place with the thumb while pouring slowly. Also, making sure the lip of the bottle--not just the opening of the Winesceptre--is over the glass has been a good call on a couple of occasions. Chilling the glasses--even for the minute or so that it takes to open the wine and insert the Winesceptre--has extended the effectiveness of this product. So... A miracle wand, this is not. However, it has expanded our opportunities to serve white wine--which is really what it's all about!

I really like the scepter, my only problem is that it does not fit in as tightly on the twist off white wine bottles, it needs to be held in place for pouring.

Nothing better to keep a bottle of wine cold on your dining table.

First of all, there isn't enough empty space in a bottle of wine to use the scepter without pouring a little wine out first. Secondly, it won't chill a warm bottle of white wine down to drinking temperature but it will cool a red wine. It will help to keep a bottle of white wine cool if you chill it first.

Used the Sceptre for several bottles switching between white, red and dessert wines with a simple rinsing in between.

Expensive, but well worth the price if you enjoy cold whites. Be sure that the bottle is slightly cooler than you prefer to start.

I checked local winery's and elite wine shops etc and found the septre with you. [...] my sister loved it as her birthday gift this year. A great gift for those who are hard to purchase for.
