I liked it at first - but.....

Pros

  • Durable Materials
  • Ergonomic Grip

Cons

  • Breaks Cork

Best Uses

  • At The Bar

I liked it at first - heavier construction, good ergonomic feel. But then 2 days ago, in trying to extract a pulled cork in a dimly lit room, the corkscrew bent almost to 90 degrees, and so now the device is useless - am trying to figure out how to replace the corkscrew (an extra one was in the package) but haven't had time.

This was an upgrade for me. I had a fake "Rabbit" for years that an ex-boyfriend gave me as a hand-me-down. I love the real one, let me tell you. It's solid, smooth, works easily and quickly, and feels like it is quality enough to last for awhile. Yay!

Great improvement on original models!

4.0

Pros

  • Works with plastic corks
  • Easy to use
  • Attractive Design

Cons

  • Heavy

Best Uses

I've broken several of the original models in several different ways, and this model seems like it will be much more durable. The biggest improvement is that it works great with plastic corks - a problem for earlier versions. It's a bit heavy, but that's an acceptable trade-off for easier and more versatile operation.

Your wife really needs this

5.0

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Durable

Cons

Best Uses

  • All occasions

My wife enjoys using the Rabbit Corkscrew; I only need to suggest a new bottle and off she goes bringing back a freshly opened bottle. This is super; should have had it thousands of twists and turns ago. Not only does it remove corks it quickly and easily decorks the corkscrew. Synthetic corks are no problem.

  • Just a bit awkward to use

Best Uses

I had a hard time finding this product but there it was on the Wine Enthusiast website. It works like a charm but has taken a little time to get used to the technique. Some corks are a bit harder to extract than others. I love pushing the cork off with just a squeeze.

High quality die cast metal alloys. Quick and easy to use. Almost makes it automatic from removing cork from bottle to removing the cork from corkscrew mechanism.

Useless on the New Plastic Corks!

2.0

Pros

  • Good for traditional cork
  • Quick
  • Easy to Use
  • Ergonomic Grip
  • Durable Materials

Cons

  • Won't grip plastic cork

Best Uses

  • Wine Bottles

It's well made but does not come with a base to store it on. The twistwire slides right through the new plastic corks so it is useless for all the wines that now have them.

The lever action is wonderful because I do not have the strength to simply pull a cork out of a wine bottle.

Avoid these corkscrews!

Pros

Cons

  • Not durable

Best Uses

I unhappily own a rabbit. It was easy to use until the mechanism came apart. And, since it happened more than a year (but less than 2) from the time I originally bought the product, per Metrokane, too bad for me. Considering the expense of their corkscrew, I find Metrokane's lack of support surprising. I highly recommend buying another brand or assume your rabbit is a throw away at the end of the year.
